[ This, of course, makes Kaon incredibly upset. Also he's not certain if Magnus knows who he is, but with this response he suspects it. So how does he know? Did Megatron or Damus out him? ]

We live on the same ship. You can't avoid me. I just wanted to talk.

Then our relationship will be strictly one of convenience. There is nothing I wish to discuss with you. [He says, assuming he's just another DJD member with no particular connection with his brother.]

We're practically family. [ That's probably stretching it quite a deal, but he's having a hissy fit. ]

[That can be interpreted in multiple ways? They were friends? Colleagues, yes, we're going with that.]

I saved his life. The others were going to torture him to death. [ He thinks, in terms of things, that domestication was the lesser evil compared to what the others wanted to do to him. ]

Many would argue that domestication is a form of prolonged torture.

[Magnus grips the communicator and clenches his denta in frustration until he realizes a crack forming on the casing.

[Typing out an answer without devolving into rage was highly difficult. Magnus has to let others know about this. Ceasefire or no, Kaon must face repercussions.]

[ This did not go as planned or expected. Autobots were incredibly hard to understand and talk to. Life on the R-1 has been incredibly difficult. He swaps to voice messages, since maybe tone will help. ]

For what? For saving his life? For loving him? Tell me, what do you do with spies?

[He's not going to answer. Screw Kaon.

He's so angry he mentally swore.]

[This might be a tiny bit awkward as the last time they interacted didn't end well. Or so Optimus assumes, he doesn't remember much through the haze of pure fury he was in when he first arrived. He does faintly remember Ultra Magnus though. He's been around just long enough to learn through osmosis that Ultra Magnus might be the best person to ask for this kind of information.]

Greetings Ultra Magnus, I am Optimus Prime. We met briefly before, and I must apologize for my behaviour. I understand if you do not wish to speak to me, but I am hoping to get your insight on someone.

[He has not been disruptive after his initial appearance on the ship, and while Minimus is wary of this Optimus Prime, there is no reason to refuse contact. The other end of the line turns on.]

I should preface my reply with the fact that I am not familiar with everyone onboard, as we do not all come from the same universe, but I will answer to the best of my knowledge.

Tell me about Getaway.

From what I gather, he is one of yours?

[He tries to hold back a sign. 'Tries' is the key word.]

He was a member of the crew headed by Rodimus and Megatron before he lead a mutiny. Even before, he put one of our more...trusting members in mortal danger to further his plot.

...Getaway is an expert escape artist and was somehow able to convince nearly the entire ship to ally against us.

I see.

[He was beginning to get a better picture of what's been going on.]

And what is your assessment on his personality in general? Can he be talked to or reasoned with?

[Oh boy.] Manipulative, flagrant disregard for safety of others, cause of many problems, and refuses to believe that he may be in the wrong.

...He is a difficult mech with whom to hold a discussion.

[ Getaway's confession leaves him more spun than Drift wants to admit or can even afford to deal with right now. He probably needs to go talk to Rodimus or Ratchet or even Riptide later to truly process these emotions and vent out the certain-to-be ugly results. But for right now Drift desperately needs to cram those feelings down and reach for a way to feel productive and in control of the situation. He refuses to allow Getaway to make him feel helpless.

Staying professional through all this though is another challenge entirely though. The clipped tone is enough to elude that Drift is very, very angry. ]

This is going to sound very terse which is not aimed at you in the least...

But tell me honestly.

Why should Getaway still be an Autobot?

[ Drift has lost his badge for less. Maybe he accepted it--encouraged it even--but it was a necessary sacrifice for a much greater purpose. However, the legalities were still there to support that decision and punishment. ]

[Minimus takes pride in his ability to apply the Autobot Code to any real and potential legal issue. When the universe presents (in a metaphorical sense; the universe is not a sentient being with the ability to actively give a single person a question) a problem categorized as a "dilemma", he finds that working through the legal proceedings provides clarity. The Code may not apply to all of the intricacies of social life, but it is an invaluable set of guidelines.

This question poses potential to be a formalized debate. Magnus leans on his desk, hands folded and held to his face while he skims the relevant subsections.]

Working under the assumption that the Autobot Code applies to this universe as well as actions taken prior to arrival to the R1, Getaway's main charges are mutiny and murder of a crew member. In order to strip him of a badge, we require a group to discuss his crimes and agree that imprisonment is not the appropriate sentence, but unprovoked murder weighs heavily against that decision.

In short, Getaway should remain an Autobot only if we reach a consensus that he still holds the ideals of the Autobot cause. I personally do not agree, but I am not the sole member of the Autobot jury.

[ UGH that sounds horrifically fair. Which under normal circumstances Drift would want. Right now though... he's a little biased towards kicking Getaway down a flight of stairs. ]

Two crew members. [ A gentle correction. Magnus is not the one he's mad at. ] I feel like there's collusion to consider as well. Tarantulus is here, and I'm going to guess that he's what Getaway means by a "certain spider." The plant infection incident put many of the ship's crew at risk; the mutations were pretty extreme and could have been fatal.

The plant infection...that is the incident correlated to the video feeds provided by Soundwave?

[If so, he had some personal stake in seeing justice brought towards Tarantulas. Minimus cannot destroy all memory of what he had seen in there.

...And now let's just focus on the matter at hand.]

If it is feasible, I will have Getaway and Riptide work off their sentences together related to their string of murders, but the other crimes ought to be taken under high command. As the Autobot representative of the Triumvirate, the decision is yours to make.

[ Video feeds? Drift knows there's plenty of security footage of the various incidents that have taken place on the ship, but this is the first he's heard that Magnus had been accessing it. There's a little internal cringing until he finishes his mental checklist that none of his indiscretions occurred in public places with video feeds. Well....except for....medibay...ahem. ]

That..depends...on which feeds you've seen. The infection I speak of is the one that we now know was unleashed by Tarantulus, which invaded the cybertronian body and grew at an insidious pace, placing the subject in a state of false euphoria while it slowly deformed their body and sapped their life force, redirecting it into 'pods' that birthed new life forms, eventually killing the host.

[ Hello Kaon's ugly dog and Flashpoint's weird plant monkey. ]

But long before that there was an--er--other incident involving pollen from alien flowers that had an unexpected aphrodisiac effect... That was accidental as I recall; the natives hadn't intended it but we never found out exactly how it got into the ship's ventilation systems... I think Soundwave was investigating that??

[ Drift wonders why he never heard anything on that, Soundwave is normally so thorough.... ]

I refer to...both incidents.

[The former is concerning and a reason that Tarantulas must be locked up. The safety of the crew was threatened. The latter...is equally concerning for other reasons. Minimus was not interested in the private lives of others. Watching his comrades engage in intimate activities has not made his life peaceful. It pained him to watch more...scenes in the hopes of finding the cause.]

Was he? I found nothing in the footage that pointed to a point of entry for the...aphrodisiacs...but everyone was already under its effect.

[He's glad that certain bots kept it in their rooms. He's glad that he can assume everyone else was off-ship at the time.]

Anyway, Tarantulas must still be on this ship and has to be found.

[ Welp, there it is. Drift resets his vocalizer with a cough, a stalling tactic as he tries not to think about how his entrance to medibay—with a very sweaty, flushed, naked save for a blanket and euphoric human woman cradled gingerly in his arms—might look to an observer of the security feeds.]

I believe he was yes. It might have been a futile effort though, no one was of their right mind to investigate until the effects wore off a few days later...

[By then, it might have been too late to decipher the origin. Drift nods emphatically at the next part ]

I wholeheartedly agree. He keeps to himself and is rarely seen. It’s a big ship, almost the size of the Lost Light, and there are only a dozen or more of us. His capacity to evade us is immense; we might have more luck trying to lure him out somehow.

[Why. Why with an organic? Magnus doesn't have personal experience in this matter, but objectively speaking, interfacing with a human must be too difficult to be work the risk.

He is incredibly lucky not to have been involved.]

We...should take greater care in recording all public activity. Even if this outbreak began in private quarters, I should have been able to form a simple timeline. It's as if we are missing a large portion of the key events.

[And now he will be forever worried about a resurgence.]

Have any of us spoken with Tarantulas recently?

[ Well, Sonia probably got more out of it than he did, but there's nothing like a powerful aphrodisiac to kick in the creative problem solving skills. Drift might be convinced to share the logistics, for the genuinely curious. ]

That's strange. I was under the impression public security feeds were pretty good. Maybe Soundwave has been too occupied with ship repairs.... That's something to look into. Put it on your list please?

[ Though embarrassing and awkward, Drift can think of worse things to repeat in this place. ]

Not...much at all really. He keeps to himself. I'm honestly not sure how long he's been here? [ That's a little dismaying, yup. ] I think he frequents the lower decks, away from the living quarters and other heavily trafficked areas. We would have seen him otherwise...

[Note: question Soundwave on the missing videos. Even if the material is incredibly uncomfortable, Minimus will subject himself to explicit material to save the crew.]

I propose an investigation into the lower decks. We can't have a stowaway on board. Not when we are in a difficult situation.

I'm not sure 'stowaway' is exactly applicable... In a way I suppose we all are since none of us are on the original crew manifest...and it's not as if the ship is actually travel worthy as it is. But if he's here, using our resources and taking shelter within the bounds of the ship, then he will have to answer to our rules.

[ What can he say, Drift is more a 'common sense' than 'letter of the law' type leader. Too much of this place is askew to fit within the straight and narrow anyway. ]

But I digress, I authorize such an investigation. Do you need additional hands?

Tarantulas is not listed on our register not has appeared at any meetings. He is not considered a full time crew member until he has made a public appearance to all commanding officers.

[So he's technically a stowaway, a non-crew member who lives with them without their knowledge.]

I will appreciate having a search force. If you can assign a team for me, I will coordinate this search.

[ Hmm. ] Fair enough. We should add that expectation to the welcome process for new arrivals.

We may need to ask for volunteers, and quietly, in case he's monitoring the network. [ Drift makes that thoughtful noise again. ] Honestly, a designated security force of some kind might be necessary now. It's been...impractical up until now, but we need trustworthy people for tasks like this.
